The Ask
Redesign/create the way locals as well as tourists interact with public transportation in Barcelona city in a digital form.
The Solution
We created a user-friendly mobile application showing the live location of busses in Barcelona, their times, the occupancy, accessibility and even how the air conditioning is in the bus.
Bus Stop Billboard
The idea for the project originated from the billboards at the bus stop. We aimed to display the real-time locations of Barcelona's buses that passed through that specific stop. To enhance user experience for commuters, we decided to incorporate a QR code. When scanned, this QR code would redirect commuters to the TMB app for bus tracking.

Once users open the TMB Bus Tracking app, they can view nearby train stations and the buses serving each bus stop from their current location. To obtain a broader perspective of all bus stops across the city, users can simply pinch the screen to access a comprehensive view of the bus stations in the city of Barcelona.

What I've learned
The project was developed to address a recurring issue associated with TMB transport in Barcelona. Drawing from our own experiences as daily commuters, we learned that it was important to place a strong emphasis on incorporating comprehensive and user-friendly features. We wanted to ensure that the app would provide all the necessary information, including real-time arrival schedules, bus occupancy details, available slots, and the status of air conditioning. By putting ourselves in the shoes of fellow commuters, we sought to make their journeys as efficient and comfortable as possible, thus contributing to an improved public transportation experience in the city. We are really happy with the final result!
